Description

Human Small Intestine Endothelial Cells (HSIECs) are primary microvascular endothelial cells isolated from the capillary network of healthy human small intestinal mucosa. These adherent, cobblestone-shaped cells exhibit typical endothelial morphology and are cryopreserved at early passage to maintain functional integrity. HSIECs express endothelial-specific markers including CD31 (PECAM-1), VE-cadherin, von Willebrand factor (vWF), and respond to VEGF and inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-1β. They maintain tight junction proteins such as claudin-5 and occludin, essential for intestinal vascular barrier function. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Human Small Intestine Endothelial Cells (HSIECs) are ideal for research in intestinal vascular biology, intestinal inflammation, and barrier dysfunction associated with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), celiac disease, and sepsis. They support studies on immune-endothelial interactions, microbiota-endothelium interactions, and nutrient or drug transport across the intestinal vasculature. HSIECs are also valuable in intestinal organoid vascularization, 3D gut-on-chip systems, and intestinal ischemia-reperfusion injury models.
