HUVEC-Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cells are available as single donor or pooled varieties.
Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cells, Pooled Donor are primary endothelial cells isolated from the umbilical vein endothelium of pooled human donors. These cells exhibit a typical cobblestone-like morphology when confluent, forming a monolayer with polygonal, tightly adherent cells, and display a spindle-shaped appearance in sparse cultures. They play essential roles in angiogenesis, vascular permeability, hemostasis, and immune response regulation. These cells are characterized by high expression of CD31. To ensure the quality of these primary cells, repeated freeze-thaw cycles are not recommended due to the fragile nature of these cells. The cells are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, syphilis, mycoplasma, fungi, yeast, and bacteria.

Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cells, Pooled Donor are extensively used in biomedical research due to their relevance in vascular physiology and pathology. Their primary applications include studying angiogenesis, where they serve as a model for testing pro- and anti-angiogenic compounds in cancer and wound healing research. In drug discovery, they are used to assess drug toxicity and efficacy, especially for cardiovascular and anti-inflammatory therapies.
