Description

Human Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells (hVSMCs) are primary cells isolated from the tunica media of large human blood vessels such as the aorta or coronary artery. These adherent, spindle-shaped cells exhibit characteristic “hill-and-valley” growth morphology and are cryopreserved at early passage to preserve native phenotype. HVSMCs express classical smooth muscle markers including α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), calponin, SM22α, and smooth muscle myosin heavy chain (SM-MHC). Functionally, they retain contractile responses to vasoactive agents such as endothelin-1 and angiotensin II and can undergo phenotypic modulation under inflammatory or growth factor stimuli. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.
