IST MEL3 is a human cutaneous melanoma tumor cell line originally derived from in situ skin tumor tissue of a Caucasian adult male patient with malignant melanoma of the skin. It exhibits an epithelial-like morphology and grows as adherent monolayers in standard culture conditions. This line is widely used to model aggressive tumor behavior and to investigate disease progression mechanisms in melanoma. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.
