Description

The KYSE70 cell line is derived from a poorly differentiated human esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) resected from a 77-year-old male patient. These epithelial tumor cells are adherent cells and exhibit a hypotriploid karyotype, typically containing approximately 60 chromosomes (ranging from 54 to 63). Genetic characterization has revealed mutations in the TP53 tumor suppressor gene, confirmed by both sequencing and protein-level analysis. KYSE70 cells show elevated expression of the Hippo pathway downstream effector TAZ, while overexpression of YAP1 has been reported to suppress cell proliferation, indicating context-dependent regulation of Hippo signaling. Furthermore, KYSE70 expresses pro-angiogenic factors, including VEGF, as verified by quantitative PCR analysis. KYSE70 cells demonstrate tumorigenicity in nude mice xenograft models but have not been reported to exhibit metastatic potential. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, mycoplasma, fungi, yeast, and bacteria.

Application

  • KYSE70 is widely used in esophageal cancer research, including investigations into tumorigenesis and cellular processes relevant to metastasis. It supports the development of stable ERBB2-downregulated models, demonstrating altered AKT signaling and radiosensitivity, and is suitable for TAZ and YAP1 functional studies, where modulation affects proliferation, migration, and invasion. Researchers also use KYSE70-conditioned medium to study tumor-induced angiogenesis via endothelial transdifferentiation. Its well-characterized TP53 mutation status and consistent genomic profile make it ideal for exploring p53-related pathways in esophageal squamous carcinoma models.
