Rabbit Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells (RVSMCs) are primary contractile cells isolated from the thoracic or abdominal aorta of rabbits. These cells exhibit the classic “hill-and-valley” growth pattern in vitro and express contractile proteins such as α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), smooth muscle myosin heavy chain (SM-MHC), calponin, and desmin. Functionally, they contribute to vessel tone regulation, extracellular matrix (ECM) production, and phenotypic switching during vascular remodeling and atherogenesis. Rabbit VSMCs respond to mechanical and chemical stimuli, making them ideal for studies on vascular calcification and smooth muscle physiology. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures and is tested to ensure it is free from contamination by Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.
