BMP4 (bone morphogenetic protein-4) is a protein found in early embryonic development, directed differentiation of human embryonic stem cells (ESCd).
Bone morphogenetic protein 4 (BMP4) is a member of the transforming growth factor (TGF-β) family of regulatory proteins, plays a crucial role in human malignancies. BMP4 treatment can promote hepatocellular carcinoma cells (HCC) proliferation and induce autophagy. Mechanistic studies revealed that BMP4 induced autophagy is mediated through the activation of JNK1/Bcl2 pathway. JNK1 inhibition or knockdown attenuates BMP4 induced autophagy and abolishes BMP4 promoted HCC cell proliferation. BMP4 promoted HCC proliferation by autophagy activation through JNK1/Bcl-2 signaling.
