VMRC-RCW renal carcinoma cells exhibit epithelial morphology, near-triploid karyotype, tumorigenic in mice, useful for cancer drug resistance research.
VMRC-RCW is a human renal cell carcinoma (RCC) cell line that was originally established from the metastatic site of a 46-year-old Japanese male patient with clear cell renal cell carcinoma. These adherent epithelial-like cells display a polygonal morphology with abundant cytoplasm, consistent with clear cell histology. Karyotypically, this line is aneuploid with model number 67 (range from 65 to 70). VMRC-RCW expresses key RCC markers such as cytokeratin, vimentin, and carbonic anhydrase IX (CA9). VMRC-RCW is tumorigenic in immunodeficient mice and capable of forming metastatic lesions, reflecting its clinical origin from a metastatic tumor. This makes it a valuable in vitro and in vivo model for studying RCC progression and metastasis.
