BALB/c Mouse Aortic Endothelial Cells from AcceGen are isolated from tissue of pathogen-free laboratory mice.
BALB/c Mouse Aortic Endothelial Cells are primary cells isolated from the thoracic aorta of BALB/c mice, a widely used inbred strain in cardiovascular and immunological research. These cells exhibit the classic cobblestone morphology of endothelial monolayers and express markers such as CD31 (PECAM-1) and von Willebrand factor. Functionally, they maintain critical roles in vascular homeostasis, including nitric oxide production, selective permeability, leukocyte adhesion, and the remodeling of BALB/c vascular endothelial extracellular matrix. These cells are particularly relevant for studying endothelial responses to oxidative stress, inflammation, and shear stress—factors central to atherosclerosis and vascular aging. They are non-transformed and have limited proliferative capacity; repeated freeze-thaw cycles should be avoided to preserve viability. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

BALB/c Mouse Aortic Endothelial Cells serve as an excellent in vitro model to study early endothelial dysfunction in atherosclerosis, diabetic vasculopathy, and vascular inflammation. They are widely used for assessing endothelial barrier integrity, cytokine signaling, and vascular reactivity under both static and flow conditions. Their responsiveness to oxidative stress and shear forces enables detailed analysis of vascular pathophysiology and therapeutic intervention efficacy. These cells also facilitate pharmacological screening of anti-inflammatory or vasoprotective agents.
