Description

BALB/c Mouse Intestinal Epithelial Cells are primary epithelial cells isolated from the small intestinal mucosa of BALB/c mice (Mus musculus). These cells predominantly comprise enterocytes and other specialized epithelial subtypes responsible for nutrient absorption and barrier functions. Under culture conditions, they exhibit typical polygonal, cobblestone morphology and form tight monolayers reflective of their in vivo architecture. These cells are maintained at early passage numbers to retain physiological characteristics and functional integrity. Immunophenotypic characterization shows high expression of epithelial markers such as E-cadherin and cytokeratin 18, confirming epithelial lineage, while lacking mesenchymal and hematopoietic markers. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures and is tested to ensure it is free from contamination by Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • BALB/c Mouse Intestinal Epithelial Cells serve as an ideal in vitro model for a range of gastrointestinal research applications. These applications include studies on intestinal barrier function and permeability, the pathogenesis of diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and colorectal cancer development. Their physiological relevance and responsiveness make them valuable for both basic research and preclinical drug development targeting the gastrointestinal tract.
