Description

BALB/c Mouse Ovarian Epithelial Cells are primary epithelial cells isolated from the ovarian tissue of BALB/c mice (Mus musculus). These cells represent the epithelial lining of the ovary, playing essential roles in ovarian surface repair, follicle development, and hormone responsiveness. In culture, these cells display typical epithelial cobblestone morphology with strong cell-cell adhesion. They express characteristic epithelial markers including E-cadherin, cytokeratins (CK18), and epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM), confirming their epithelial origin. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures and is tested to ensure it is free from contamination by Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • BALB/c Mouse Ovarian Epithelial Cells are widely used to study ovarian physiology, including epithelial repair mechanisms, hormone receptor-mediated signaling and regulation of follicular growth and ovulation. These cells serve as a valuable in vitro model for investigating ovarian cancer initiation and progression, given that a significant proportion of epithelial ovarian carcinomas are thought to arise from the ovarian surface epithelium or related epithelial precursors. Additionally, they are utilized in toxicology testing, drug screening, and co-culture experiments to explore epithelial-stromal interactions within the ovarian microenvironment.
