C57BL/6 Mouse Brain Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells enable research in cerebrovascular function, vascular contraction, and neurovascular signaling pathways.
C57BL/6 Mouse Brain Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells are primary cells isolated from the cerebral arteries, cerebellar arteries, and pial arteries of pathogen-free laboratory mice. Following primary culture, these cells are cryopreserved. These specialized cells play a pivotal role in cerebrovascular homeostasis and C57BL/6 brain blood flow regulation by dynamically regulating cerebral blood flow through vascular tone modulation in response to vasoactive signals (e.g., nitric oxide). During stroke, they adaptively remodel collateral vessels to redirect perfusion to oxygen-starved tissues. In aging or hypertension, pathological changes cause phenotype switching, arterial stiffening, and extracellular matrix deposition, driving cerebrovascular dysfunction and blood-brain barrier leakage. C57BL/6 Mouse Brain Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells are characterized by antibodies against α-smooth muscle actin. Repeated freezing and thawing should be avoided during culture. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

C57BL/6 mouse brain vascular smooth muscle cells serve as a critical in vitro and in vivo model to investigate cerebrovascular dysfunction in neurological disorders such as stroke, hypertension, and vascular dementia. For example, by studying molecular pathways like angiotensin II-mediated phenotype switching or TRPM4 calcium channel dysregulation, these cells serve as a valuable model to reveal mechanisms of pathological arterial stiffening, collateral remodeling failure, and blood-brain barrier disruption, aiding the development of therapeutic strategies for neurovascular protection.
