Mouse primary cardiac fibroblasts are isolated from tissue of pathogen-free laboratory mice.
C57BL/6 Mouse Cardiac Fibroblasts are primary cells isolated from the hearts of pathogen-free laboratory mice, serving as an ideal model for C57BL/6 cardiovascular fibrosis research. These cells primarily reside within the myocardial interstitium, the subepicardial connective tissue layer, and the valvular stroma. Following the primary culture, they are cryopreserved. As crucial components of cardiac tissue, they provide structural support for cardiac myocytes. These cells are a source of paracrine growth factors and are an important cellular component of myocardial responses to injury. The cells are responsible for extracellular matrix synthesis in the heart during development and pathological conditions. Their proliferation and matrix synthesis are essential for scar formation at sites of myocardial infarction and cardiac fibrosis, two processes that are often complicated by cardiac hypertrophy. These fibroblasts also respond to changes in microenvironments in pathological conditions by modulating integrin expression. Repeated freezing and thawing should be avoided during culture. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

C57BL/6 Mouse Cardiac Fibroblasts can be used as an in vitro model to study the pathogenesis of cardiac fibrosis in disease conditions such as myocardial infarction and pressure-overload heart failure. For example, by investigating molecular pathways like TGF-β/Smad3-dependent myofibroblast transdifferentiation and ECM remodeling, these cells help elucidate mechanisms driving pathological collagen deposition, ventricular stiffening, and arrhythmogenic substrate formation, aiding the development of anti-fibrotic therapies.
