DMS 92 cell line derived from small cell lung carcinoma metastasis to bone marrow provides a robust cancer model from a 39-year-old male patient sample.
DMS 92 is a human lung cancer cell line obtained from a bone marrow aspirate of an untreated 39-year-old male at the time of diagnosis. This cell line exhibits typical morphological features of small cell lung cancer (SCLC) cells, including small, round to oval-shaped cells with scant cytoplasm and high nuclear-to-cytoplasmic ratios, often forming loose aggregates in culture. The DMS 92 cell line exhibits a karyotype with a modal chromosome number of 44, indicating a hypodiploid genome that suggests significant chromosomal loss, a feature commonly associated with genomic instability in malignant cells. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

DMS 92 is a valuable in vitro model for studying the aggressive biology and cellular vulnerabilities of neuroendocrine lung tumors. Its primary applications include in vitro drug testing, where it is used to evaluate the effects of chemotherapeutic agents (e.g., cisplatin, etoposide) and novel targeted therapies, particularly those inhibiting MYC or neuroendocrine signaling pathways.
