DU4475 human breast carcinoma cell line grows in floating clusters, providing oncology research models for tumor biology and therapeutic discovery.
The DU 4475 cell line is a human breast carcinoma cell line originally isolated from a metastatic site of a 70-year-old female patient with breast carcinoma. This cell line exhibits epithelial-like morphology and suspension growth properties with multicellular aggregates. The stemline karyotype of DU 4475 consists of 93 chromosomes, with a modal range between 85 and 95. The cells express epithelial markers, such as cytokeratin 8 (CK8) and epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM). They are tumorigenic in nude mice and exhibit metastatic capacity at skin sites. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

DU 4475 cells serve as a treatment-resistant breast cancer model, enabling studies of EGFR-driven oncogenesis and metastasis mechanisms. They facilitate in vitro targeted therapy screening and metastatic tropism analysis. This system supports 3D organoid modeling of skin metastasis niches and immune evasion mechanism studies, enabling in vitro evaluation of potential therapeutic strategies for refractory triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC).
