FTC-238 follicular thyroid carcinoma, lung metastasis–derived cells support thyroid cancer invasion, signaling, and drug testing research in vitro.
FTC-238 cell line is from lung metastatic tissue of a 42-year-old male patient with follicular thyroid carcinoma. This adherent epithelial carcinoma line exhibits polymorphic morphology, ranging from flat polygonal to spindle‑shaped cells. Cytogenetic analysis reveals complex chromosomal changes, and a p53 mutation has been detected. The FTC-238 cell line is known to express ST6GalNAcII, a sialylation enzyme playing a role in cancer development. FTC‑238 demonstrates tumorigenic properties in preclinical models. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

FTC-238 cell line serves as a critical tool for thyroid cancer research and preclinical drug screening. Its primary utility lies in investigating metastasis mechanisms, tumor microenvironment interactions, and treatment resistance pathways in vitro and in xenograft models, enabling rigorous evaluation of therapeutic candidates targeting advanced thyroid cancers. This supports the development of novel oncology treatments and personalized medicine approaches.
