Human Superior Mesenteric Plexus Neuronal Stem Cell; Frozen Vial and Plated cells are available.
HighQC™ Human Superior Mesenteric Plexus Neuronal Stem Cells (NSCs) are neural progenitors isolated from the myenteric plexus region of post-natal human small intestinal tissue, specifically the superior mesenteric plexus. These cells are cultured to form neurospheres and can adhere to standard substrates, adopting bipolar morphology upon differentiation. Human superior mesenteric plexus NSCs express key neural stem markers including Nestin and SOX10. These markers are characteristic of early enteric neural progenitors and reflect their origin within the developing enteric nervous system (ENS). Functionally, they exhibit multipotency, generating enteric neurons and distinctive glial-like cells with morphological and molecular features matching human ENS lineages. Their consistent behavior and responsiveness to signaling cues make them a valuable tool for modeling human ENS development and pathology. Culture protocols are optimized to maintain sterility and phenotypic fidelity. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, syphilis, mycoplasma, fungi, yeast, and bacteria.

These superior mesenteric plexus stem cells are ideal for studying enteric nervous system development and gastrointestinal motility disorders such as Hirschsprung’s disease and bowel dysmotility. They serve as an enteric neurosphere-derived model for testing compounds affecting neuronal differentiation, network formation, and neural integration. Their ability to form functional neural networks ex vivo also supports high-throughput drug screening and mechanistic studies of gut–brain interaction in neurogastroenterology.
