Primary Human Arterial Endothelial Cells</strong> are pooled primary isolates from 250 individual donor umbilical arteries.
Human Arterial Endothelial Cells are primary cells isolated from human arterial tissue (various vascular beds) and cryopreserved at early passage. These cells exhibit characteristic cobblestone morphology and maintain endothelial-specific functions including vascular tone regulation via nitric oxide synthesis, endothelial permeability in arteries, selective permeability barrier formation, and inflammation modulation through ICAM-1/VCAM-1 expression. Their arterial-specific identity is confirmed with >95% positive for CD31, von Willebrand factor (vWF), and VE-cadherin, while CD146 expression distinguishes their arterial-specific origin. Karyotypic analysis shows stable diploid chromosomes, and these cells model key aspects of vascular pathologies including atherosclerosis, hypertension, and diabetic vasculopathy. For optimal performance, repeated freezing and thawing should be avoided during culture. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Human Arterial Endothelial Cells serve as a physiologically relevant in vitro model to study arterial pathogenesis in conditions like atherosclerosis and hypertension. Their responsiveness to hemodynamic forces enables investigation of TNF-α/NF-κB-driven VCAM-1 overexpression under disturbed flow conditions, and they reveal molecular pathways of monocyte adhesion and endothelial barrier disruption. Researchers can utilize this model to evaluate stent efficacy, optimize stent designs for improved shear stress profiles, and develop novel therapies targeting plaque initiation and nitric oxide dysfunction in cardiovascular diseases.
