Human Carotid Artery Endothelial Cells, Adult, primary vascular endothelial cells preserved at early passage for cardiovascular biology applications.
Human Carotid Artery Endothelial Cells, Adult (HCtAEC), are primary endothelial cells isolated from healthy human carotid artery tissue and cryopreserved at early passage. These cells form the inner lining of the carotid artery and play a vital role in maintaining vascular homeostasis, regulating blood flow, and mediating inflammatory responses. HCtAECs are essential for studying endothelial cell biology, atherosclerosis, and vascular dysfunction, particularly in the context of cerebrovascular diseases such as stroke. They serve as a reliable in vitro model for investigating endothelial permeability, angiogenesis, and cellular interactions with circulating immune cells. These cells express endothelial markers such as CD31 (PECAM-1) and von Willebrand factor (vWF). The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, syphilis, mycoplasma, fungi, yeast, and bacteria. Repeated freeze-thaw cycles should be avoided to maintain cell viability and integrity.

Human Carotid Artery Endothelial Cells (Adult) can be used as an in vitro vascular model to study endothelial function, atherosclerosis development, and vascular inflammation. These cells express characteristic markers such as CD31 and vWF, making them suitable for assays on angiogenesis, nitric oxide signaling, and endothelial response to shear stress. They are ideal for cardiovascular drug screening and the evaluation of anti-inflammatory or anti-thrombotic therapeutics targeting large-vessel endothelium.
