Human Conjunctival Fibroblasts from AcceGen Research Laboratories are isolated from human conjunctiva.
Human Conjunctival Fibroblasts (HConF) are derived from human conjunctival tissue and cryopreserved at early passage after isolation to maintain high viability. These fibroblasts exhibit a characteristic spindle-shaped morphology and express fibronectin and vimentin. HConF play an important role in extracellular matrix production, wound healing, and maintaining the structural integrity of the conjunctival stroma. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, syphilis, mycoplasma, fungi, yeast, and bacteria. To preserve cell quality and functionality, repeated freeze-thaw cycles should be avoided during handling and culture.

Human Conjunctival Fibroblasts play an essential role in wound healing, fibrosis, and immune regulation on the ocular surface. They are used in studies exploring scarring, myofibroblast transition, and the impact of anti-fibrotic agents in eye surgery recovery. These fibroblasts are also involved in extracellular matrix remodeling in chronic conjunctival diseases.
