Description

Human Hair Germinal Matrix Cells (HHGMC) are spindle-like, highly proliferative epithelial cells, isolated from the germinal matrix region at the base of human hair bulb, obtained from a single healthy donor. This matrix is essential for hair growth: its cells proliferate rapidly during the anagen phase, differentiate into keratin-producing layers to elongate hair, and facilitate melanin transfer for pigmentation. HHGMC also display immune-privileged characteristics and can induce follicular neogenesis when co-implanted with dermal papilla cells. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures and is tested to ensure it is free from contamination by HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • HHGMC serve as an in vitro system to study hair growth mechanisms, keratinization pathways, and melanin incorporation during the anagen phase. They are used in follicular biology research, enabling investigation of immune-privileged cell behavior, matrix–papilla co-culture, and de novo follicle formation assays. HHGMC also support screening of hair-growth-promoting compounds, pigmentation modulators, and immune-targeted therapies in hair follicle regeneration and dermatological applications.
