Description

Human Intestinal Fibroblasts (HIF) are mesenchymal cells derived from normal intestinal tissue, exhibiting spindle-shaped morphology and adherent growth. As key constituents of the intestinal lamina propria, they secrete an extracellular matrix rich in type I and III collagen, contributing to tissue integrity and repair. HIF are known to regulate immune cell infiltration and epithelial barrier homeostasis, playing essential roles in wound healing, fibrosis, and intestinal diseases such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Regional heterogeneity in fibroblast phenotype underlies their functional specialization across different segments of the gut. HIF express mesenchymal lineage markers such as vimentin and PDGFRβ. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures and is tested to ensure it is free from contamination by HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • HIF are widely used in gastrointestinal research to investigate fibroinflammatory responses, tissue remodeling, and epithelial-stromal interactions in diseases like IBD and fibrosis. These cells are ideal for modeling inflammation, testing antifibrotic compounds, and studying ECM-related signaling pathways. They are also employed in 3D gut models and co-culture systems with epithelial or immune cells to mimic in vivo microenvironments for drug screening and regenerative medicine applications.
