Description

Human Lung Smooth Muscle Cells (HLuSMC) are primary cells isolated from the muscular layer of normal human pulmonary tissue. They exhibit spindle-shaped morphology and express smooth muscle–specific markers such as α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), calponin, and SM22α. HLuSMC contribute to airway tone regulation, extracellular matrix remodeling, and cytokine release in response to mechanical or inflammatory stimuli. These cells play a central role in airway hyperresponsiveness and structural changes seen in asthma, COPD, and pulmonary hypertension. HLuSMC from AcceGen are cryopreserved at early passage to preserve contractile phenotype and responsiveness, making them an ideal model for studying lung smooth muscle biology, vascular remodeling, and respiratory disease mechanisms. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures and is tested to ensure it is free from contamination by HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • HLuSMC are suitable for studies on pulmonary hypertension, asthma pathophysiology, airway remodeling, and cytokine-mediated inflammation. They support investigations into vascular smooth muscle contractility, TGF-β signaling, and extracellular matrix deposition. These cells are also used in drug screening for bronchodilators, anti-fibrotic agents, and pathway-specific modulators. HLuSMC can be co-cultured with epithelial or endothelial cells in 3D lung models to simulate airway structure and assess intercellular signaling in respiratory disease research.
