Description

Human Neurons-Brain Stem are primary neural stem/progenitor cells isolated from the ventricular subventricular zone (V-SVZ) or subgranular zone (SGZ) of adult human brain tissue. These cells demonstrate dual growth capabilities, forming neurospheres in suspension and adhering as monolayers in culture. They show strong expression of neural stem cell markers such as Nestin and SOX2. Human brainstem neurons are capable of multipotent differentiation into neurons, astrocytes, and oligodendrocytes. They are cryopreserved at early passages to retain physiological relevance. Being non-immortalized, these cells have limited expansion capacity and are not meant for indefinite passaging. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • These brain-stem neural progenitor cells are ideal for studying adult human neurogenesis, neural lineage commitment, and in vitro modeling of neurological disorders. Researchers can utilize them for drug screening in neurodegenerative diseases (e.g., Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s), neurotoxicity assays, examining synaptic protein expression, and evaluating regenerative therapies. Their ability to form neurospheres and differentiate makes them well-suited to explore cellular mechanisms of neuroplasticity and to test small molecules or biologics aimed at neuroprotection or remyelination.
