Description

Human Oligodendrocyte Precursor Cell Oligospheres (HOPC os) are primary cells cultured from human brain tissue as three dimensional spheroids. These oligospheres consist of oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs) cultured under defined conditions. In culture, HOPC os exhibit neuroepithelial-like morphology while retaining expression of characteristic OPC markers including SOX10, PDGFαR, and O4. These oligodendrocytes are particularly useful for studying neurogenic transformation processes, such as those occurring after spinal cord injury. These properties make HOPC os a valuable model for investigating oligodendrocyte maturation, remyelination, and cellular plasticity. They are cryopreserved at the passage 0. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • HOPC os serve as an advanced in vitro model for studying oligodendrocyte development, remyelination, and stem cell–like plasticity. They are well-suited for evaluating myelin formation, differentiation dynamics, and neurogenic reprogramming, as well as for drug screening in demyelinating disorders such as multiple sclerosis or spinal cord injury. Additionally, these oligospheres are compatible with 3D culture.
