Description

Human Pancreatic Stromal Cells (HPSCs) are primary cells derived from normal human pancreatic tissue through a combination of enzymatic digestion and outgrowth techniques, ensuring high purity of stellate cell populations. These cells exhibit a characteristic star-like morphology with prominent cytoplasmic extensions and perinuclear vitamin A lipid droplets in their quiescent state. In their quiescent state, PSCs store vitamin A droplets and secrete extracellular matrix proteins like collagen and fibronectin; upon pancreatic injury or inflammation, they activate and highly express α smooth muscle actin (α SMA), driving fibrotic processes. PSCs typically express intermediate filament markers such as desmin and GFAP. These cells are cryopreserved at early passage. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Human Pancreatic Stromal Cells are ideal for in vitro modeling of pancreatic fibrosis and stromal–tumor crosstalk. They are particularly valuable for modeling the desmoplastic reaction in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) and chronic pancreatitis, enabling investigation of paracrine signaling, activation responses to inflammatory cytokines, and stroma-induced chemoresistance mechanisms. Co-culture systems with pancreatic cancer cells enable recapitulation of key tumor microenvironment features. They are also ideal for identification of anti-fibrotic or stroma-targeting therapeutics through quantitative assessment of α SMA expression and collagen secretion.
