Description

Human Pulmonary Artery Smooth Muscle Cells (hPASMCs) are primary cells isolated from the tunica media of human pulmonary arteries from healthy donors. They are elongated or triangular in shape. The cells exhibit characteristic “hill-and-valley” growth patterns and adhere strongly in culture. Supplied at early passage, they retain their contractile phenotype, expressing smooth muscle–specific markers including α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) and smooth muscle myosin heavy chain (SM-MHC). Functional assays confirm their calcium flux response and proliferative capacity under pathological conditions. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Human Pulmonary Artery Smooth Muscle Cells (hPASMCs) representing primary human pulmonary arterial smooth muscle cells, are an essential in vitro model for studying the pathophysiology of pulmonary vascular diseases, particularly pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). They are widely used to investigate smooth muscle cell proliferation, migration, contractility, and extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling in response to hypoxia, inflammation, and vasoactive agents. hPASMCs are also valuable for evaluating the vasodilatory or anti-proliferative effects of candidate drugs.
