Human Renal Cortical Epithelial Cells from AcceGen Research Laboratories are isolated from human kidneys.
Human Renal Cortical Epithelial Cells are derived from the kidney tissue of healthy human donors. Cryopreserved at early passage, these cells display a cuboidal morphology and adherent growth. They play key roles in the reabsorption of water, electrolytes, and nutrients, as well as in the secretion of waste products, thereby maintaining renal tubular homeostasis. These renal cells are relevant to studies on acute tubular necrosis, renal tubular injury, and chronic kidney disease progression. They express epithelial markers such as cytokeratin-18 and cytokeratin-19, and maintain a normal human karyotype. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Human Renal Cortical Epithelial Cells can be used as an in vitro model to study renal dysfunction in diseases such as acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease. For example, by investigating the molecular pathways of their injury, repair, and electrolyte transport, they provide a better understanding of renal cortical epithelial functions and pathological changes, aiding in exploring treatments for kidney-related disorders.
