Description

Human Umbilical Vein Smooth Muscle Cells, Neonatal are primary cells derived from the umbilical vein of newborns. They display a spindle-shaped or elongated structure with a central nucleus and regulate vascular tone, maintain blood flow, and participate in vascular remodeling through proliferation, migration, and ECM synthesis. These cells may express commonly used smooth muscle markers such as α-SMA, SM-MHC, calponin, and smoothelin, which are associated with contractile smooth muscle characteristics. The cells are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, syphilis, mycoplasma, fungi, yeast, and bacteria.

Application

  • Human Umbilical Vein Smooth Muscle Cells, Neonatal are widely used in biomedical research due to their relevance in vascular physiology and pathology. Their primary applications include studying vascular development, angiogenesis, and vascular remodeling mechanisms. As a model for vascular smooth muscle cell (SMC) biology, they help investigate contractility, proliferation, and migration in response to mechanical forces, growth factors, and pharmacological agents.
