The Mouse Cerebellar Astrocytes are used in the neuroscience research to study glial function, neuroinflammation, and neuron-glia interactions.
Mouse Cerebellar Astrocytes are derived from the cerebellar tissue of neonatal mice. As the predominant glial cells in the central nervous system, astrocytes exhibit a characteristic star-shaped morphology and adherent growth pattern. Functionally, these cells support neuronal homeostasis and the blood-brain barrier, and modulate inflammatory responses. Their dysregulation is linked to neurodegenerative disorders such as cerebellar ataxia and multiple sclerosis. The cells express glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), a specific astrocyte marker. These cells exhibit limited proliferative capacity. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Mouse Cerebellar Astrocytes can be used as an in vitro cell model to study the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases and cerebellar disorders, such as spinocerebellar ataxias. By investigating neurodegenerative mechanisms, particularly through blood-brain barrier regulation, synaptic homeostasis maintenance, and inflammatory stimuli responses, researchers can gain insights into astrocyte-mediated neuroprotection or neuroinflammation. This supports discovery research and therapeutic target identification related to cerebellar-associated neurological conditions associated with aberrant astrocyte physiology and pathological dysregulation.
