Description

The sebaceous glands are important skin appendages that are widely distributed and primarily function to synthesize and secrete sebum. This sebum moisturizes the skin and hair, inhibits and kills bacteria on the skin surface, and, along with sweat, forms a lipid membrane that is closely related to the integrity of the skin barrier. Mouse Sebaceous Gland Cells are derived from mouse sebaceous gland tissue and have been identified as positive for CK7 immunofluorescence staining. Mouse Sebaceous Gland Cells are prepared using neutral protease digestion followed by a mixed digestion with trypsin and collagenase. The cells undergo stringent quality control and are tested to be negative for mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast, and fungi.

Mouse Sebaceous Gland Cells are used to study sebaceous gland function, sebum production, and skin diseases such as acne and seborrhea. These range from antimicrobial peptide production and immunomodulation, via lipid and hormone synthesis/metabolism, to the provision of an epithelial progenitor cell reservoir. They are essential in drug screening, testing the effects of treatments on sebum regulation, and exploring cell differentiation for skin regeneration and cosmetic applications.
