Description

Human Skin Cells (Fibroblasts, Postnatal) (hSF, Postnatal), are isolated from the dermis of healthy postnatal human skin tissue. These skin fibroblasts are key contributors to connective tissue architecture, responsible for synthesizing extracellular matrix components such as type I and III collagen, fibronectin, and elastin. In vitro, hSF, Postnatal cells display a characteristic spindle-shaped morphology and adhere and proliferate consistently as a monolayer over multiple passages. They are widely used in studies of tissue repair, scarring, and skin aging due to their physiological relevance and retained biosynthetic activity. The cells exhibit expression of fibroblast markers including vimentin and fibronectin. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Human Skin Cells (Fibroblasts, Postnatal) (HSF, Postnatal) are a vital model for studying dermal physiology, wound healing, and skin aging. These cells enable research into fibrotic disorders, photoaging mechanisms, and regenerative therapies, providing insights for both cosmetic and medical applications. hSF are essential for developing 3D skin models, improving drug testing platforms, and advancing tissue-engineered skin grafts. Their involvement in fibroblast–immune cell interactions and epithelial–mesenchymal crosstalk further supports studies in chronic inflammation and scar formation.
