Fluorescent Marker: EGFP3-Seh1 Percentage of expressing cells: about 50%. Expression level: This clonal stable cell line shows some variegation.
NRK EGFP3‑Seh1 is a stably transfected rat (Rattus norvegicus, Osborne‑Mendel strain) kidney epithelial cell line engineered to express a fusion of enhanced GFP and Seh1, a nuclear pore complex protein. It originates from spontaneously immortalized NRK cells and was transfected using a circular plasmid followed by antibiotic selection. Cells grow as adherent, fibroblast-like monolayers, with a fusiform morphology. The cells express EGFP3‑Seh1, and they are well-suited for visualizing NPC structure and dynamics. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from mycoplasma, fungi, yeast, and bacteria.

NRK EGFP3‑Seh1 is ideal for investigating nuclear pore complex assembly, nucleocytoplasmic transport, and Seh1 dynamics in live cells. Its stable GFP-tag allows high-resolution fluorescence microscopy, including FRAP and imaging of NPC turnover. Approximately 50% expression with variegation enables quantitative analysis across cell populations. This Seh1-labeled NRK cell line also supports drug screening targeting NPC function, and facilitates studies in cell cycle regulation and mitosis linked to nuclear envelope dynamics. It acts as a versatile tool for fluorescent reporter-based assays in cell and molecular biology.
