Leverage NRK IBB-DiHcRed1 for precise visualization of nuclear transport processes using stable IBB-DiHcRed1 expression in live-cell imaging systems.
NRK IBB‑DiHcRed1 is a stably transfected clonal rat (Rattus norvegicus, Osborne‑Mendel strain) kidney epithelial cell line, engineered to express the red fluorescent protein DiHcRed1 under a CMV promoter fused to the importin-β binding domain (IBB), with G418 selection. These cells exhibit fibroblast-like, fusiform morphology and adherent growth. The DiHcRed1 signal localizes primarily to the nucleus due to the IBB sequence, enabling real-time visualization of nuclear-cytoplasmic dynamics. These cells maintain typical NRK properties—contact inhibition, epithelial morphology, and proliferation behavior. Karyotype analysis reveals a modal chromosome number of 44 with a range from 39 to 44, consistent with stable genomic integrity. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from mycoplasma, fungi, yeast, and bacteria.

NRK IBB‑DiHcRed1 enables real-time visualization of cellular dynamics in renal epithelial models using red fluorescence. It is ideal for live-cell imaging studies such as cell migration, division, morphology tracking, and co-culture with GFP-tagged lines. Its strong and stable DiHcRed1 expression also supports multi-channel fluorescence assays, high-content screening of drug effects, and cellular behavior studies in kidney research, cancer biology, and epithelial physiology. The line is suitable for developing imaging-based assays in cell biology and pharmacological testing.
