Utilize Porcine Aortic Smooth Muscle Cells for vascular biology, atherosclerosis modeling, and smooth muscle physiology research in cardiovascular studies.
Porcine Aortic Smooth Muscle Cells are isolated from the intimal and medial layers of healthy porcine aortas and are cryopreserved after primary culture. They express markers including calponin, alpha-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), SM myosin heavy chain (MHC), and SM22. These porcine aortic SMCs are essential for maintaining vascular tone and structural integrity. Through contraction and relaxation, they regulate vessel diameter and participate in blood pressure control. They also secrete extracellular matrix proteins such as collagen and elastin, supporting vascular wall architecture. In response to vascular injury, they can migrate and proliferate to contribute to vessel repair. These cells are widely used in vascular biology, stent evaluation, and restenosis research. Repeated freeze-thaw cycles should be avoided to ensure functional integrity. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Porcine Aortic Smooth Muscle Cells provide an effective model for studying vascular remodeling, hypertension, and atherosclerotic plaque formation. They play an essential role in regulating vascular tone, extracellular matrix production, and cellular migration following vascular injury. These cells are used in research on restenosis, drug-eluting stents, and smooth muscle proliferation, offering insight into the mechanisms underlying vascular pathologies.
