Description

Rabbit Red Blood Cells (RBCs) are primary enucleated cells derived from the peripheral blood of rabbits. Following collection, the cells are washed thoroughly to preserve membrane integrity while maintaining discocyte morphology. This prevents hemolysis and minimizes osmotic or complement-mediated lysis during handling or long-term storage. The cells are non-adherent and remain in suspension, with uniform size distribution and surface antigen retention. All batches are cryopreserved. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures and is tested to ensure it is free from contamination by Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • RRBCs are used in hematology, immunology, and biocompatibility research to study erythrocyte membrane stability, complement resistance, and antigenicity. Their chemically stabilized membranes support assays involving agglutination, hemolysis resistance, and blood–material interaction. RRBCs also serve as inert suspension models for evaluating osmotic stress, drug carrier attachment, and surface antigen behavior, making them ideal tools in transfusion science, immunoassay development, and red cell mimicry studies.
