Description

Rat Bladder Fibroblasts are primary mesenchymal cells isolated from the urinary bladder of rats. These spindle-shaped, adherent cells express fibroblast markers including vimentin and fibroblast-specific protein 1 (S100A4). They actively synthesize extracellular matrix (ECM) components such as collagen I, elastin, and fibronectin, crucial for bladder wall compliance and remodeling—especially under conditions like spinal cord injury or partial outlet obstruction. In vitro studies demonstrate that bladder fibroblasts respond dynamically to growth factors such as bFGF and TGF-β, showing increased proliferation and differential collagen expression (type III over type I) via ERK1/2 signaling pathways. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures and is tested to ensure it is free from contamination by Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Rat bladder fibroblasts serve as an ideal model for investigating stromal remodeling in urological disorders such as fibrosis, bladder outlet obstruction, and neurogenic bladder following spinal cord injury. Their ability to respond to TGF-β and mechanical stimuli allows researchers to study ECM deposition, collagen isoform regulation, and fibroblast–smooth muscle interactions in bladder pathology. They are also widely used in regenerative urology, tissue engineering, and pharmaceutical screening of anti-fibrotic or anti-inflammatory compounds.
