Description

Rat Bone Marrow Macrophages (BMMs) are primary mononuclear phagocytic cells isolated from the femoral and tibial bone marrow of healthy adult rats under sterile conditions. Rat BMMs exhibit a characteristic spread morphology, grow adherently in culture and retain high phagocytic activity. They serve as critical immune regulators in the bone marrow microenvironment, orchestrating hematopoiesis, inflammation, and tissue remodeling. Rat BMMs are involved in various disease models, including bone marrow fibrosis, leukemia, and immune-mediated cytopenia. They express typical macrophage surface markers such as CD68 and F4/80. As non-proliferative cells, Rat BMMs are recommended to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles to preserve viability. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Rat Bone Marrow Macrophages are widely applied in studies of innate immunity, hematopoietic niche regulation, and inflammatory bone marrow disorders. They are suitable for modeling immune cell–mediated bone marrow dysfunction and for exploring cytokine signaling in leukemogenesis or therapeutic myelosuppression. RBMMs are also used in co-culture systems with hematopoietic stem cells to assess marrow homeostasis and immunomodulatory therapies.
