Description

Rat Brain Hippocampus Astrocytes are primary glial cells isolated from the hippocampal region of postnatal rat brains. Astrocytes exhibit a star-shaped structure with abundant processes and adhere firmly to culture vessels. As key components of the central nervous system (CNS), they are involved in synaptic modulation, blood-brain barrier (BBB) maintenance, and neurovascular coupling. In neurological diseases, hippocampal astrocytes play a pivotal role in neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration, especially in epilepsy and Alzheimer's disease. They consistently express hallmark astrocytic markers GFAP and S100β. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.
