Description

Rat Brain Vascular Fibroblasts are primary mesenchymal cells isolated from the cerebral microvasculature of rat brains under sterile conditions. These cells are obtained from the brain's perivascular region, where they contribute to the neurovascular unit by supporting the extracellular matrix (ECM) surrounding cerebral vessels. Morphologically, they exhibit a characteristic spindle-shaped, adherent phenotype and are cryopreserved at an early passage to preserve native phenotypic traits. Brain vascular fibroblasts play key roles in maintaining blood-brain barrier (BBB) integrity and are involved in the fibrotic remodeling observed in cerebrovascular disorders, including stroke and cerebral small vessel disease. Functionally, they express canonical mesenchymal marker vimentin. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Primary rat brain vascular fibroblasts are ideal for in vitro modeling of perivascular fibrosis, BBB dysregulation, and neuroinflammatory signaling. These cells support the study of brain microvascular remodeling following ischemic injury or neurodegenerative processes, offering insight into fibrotic signaling pathways, ECM deposition, and cell-matrix interactions within the neurovascular niche. They are widely applied in CNS fibrosis modeling, drug permeability assays, and co-culture systems to simulate brain microenvironments.
