Description

Rat Dermal Fibroblasts (RDF) are primary cells isolated from the dermal layer of healthy rat skin. These spindle-shaped, adherent cells are cryopreserved at an early passage to preserve their proliferative capacity and functional integrity. Dermal fibroblasts play a vital role in extracellular matrix (ECM) synthesis, wound healing, and tissue remodeling by secreting key structural proteins such as type I and type III collagen, fibronectin, and elastin. These cells also show expression of mesenchymal marker vimentin. Rat dermal fibroblasts are commonly used in dermatological research to model inflammation, skin regeneration, and toxicological screening. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Primary rat dermal fibroblasts are commonly used as an in vitro model for investigations of skin biology, extracellular matrix dynamics, and cellular responses relevant to wound repair. They support studies of dermal regeneration, matrix remodeling, and changes in collagen deposition associated with fibroblast activation. These cells can also be applied in laboratory evaluation of bioactive compounds, tissue scaffolds, and experimental conditions that influence fibroblast behavior and responses to inflammatory stimuli. Their responsiveness to growth factors such as TGF-β and FGF enables investigation of signaling pathways associated with matrix production and fibroblast activation in culture.
