Description

Rat Dermal Lymphatic Endothelial Cells (RDLECs) are primary cells isolated from the lymphatic vessels within the dermis of neonatal or juvenile rats. These specialized endothelial cells line the lymphatic capillaries and play essential roles in interstitial fluid homeostasis, immune cell trafficking, and tissue inflammation resolution. RDLECs display a cobblestone-like morphology typical of endothelial cells and express a panel of lymphatic-specific markers, including podoplanin (gp38), PROX1, LYVE-1 (Lymphatic Vessel Endothelial Hyaluronan Receptor 1), and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 3 (VEGFR-3/FLT4). They exhibit active tube formation in Matrigel assays and respond to VEGF-C and VEGF-D signaling, making them suitable for studies of lymphangiogenesis and dermal lymphatic physiology. RDLECs can be passaged for several generations under optimized endothelial cell culture conditions. Repeated freeze-thaw cycles are not recommended. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Rat Dermal Lymphatic Endothelial Cells are widely used in research focused on lymphangiogenesis, inflammation, tumor metastasis, and immune cell trafficking. Their dermal origin makes them particularly useful for modeling skin-related lymphatic disorders, wound healing, transplant rejection, and studies involving cutaneous immune responses. They also serve as a valuable in vitro model for testing anti-lymphangiogenic compounds or analyzing the molecular mechanisms of lymphatic remodeling in disease.
