Description

Rat Embryonic Fibroblasts (REFs) are primary cells isolated from the mesenchymal tissue of rat embryos. These adherent cells exhibit a spindle-shaped morphology and demonstrate robust proliferative capacity under standard culture conditions. REFs express key fibroblast markers such as vimentin and fibronectin, and respond dynamically to growth factors and extracellular matrix cues. Due to their robust growth and responsiveness, REFs are commonly used as feeder layers or model systems for studying fibroblast biology, wound healing, and cell differentiation. AcceGen's REFs are cryopreserved at early passage to retain physiological relevance and high viability. To maintain cell integrity, repeated freeze-thaw cycles are not recommended. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Primary rat embryo fibroblasts are ideal for studying cellular senescence, extracellular matrix production, cytokine signaling, and fibroblast-mediated tissue repair. They are also widely used in developmental biology, toxicology, and function as feeder cells to support the growth of embryonic stem cells or other primary cultures. Their physiological relevance and consistent behavior make them highly suitable for both basic and translational research applications.
