Description

Rat Epidermal Keratinocytes-Neonate are primary epithelial cells isolated from the epidermis of neonatal rat skin, offering a biologically relevant model for studying early skin development and repair mechanisms. These adherent cells exhibit the typical cobblestone-like morphology of basal keratinocytes and possess robust proliferative capacity under optimized culture conditions. They express hallmark epidermal markers such as cytokeratins, involucrin, and E-cadherin, and can undergo terminal differentiation when cultured under defined conditions. Their responsiveness to growth factors and environmental stressors makes them ideal for a variety of dermatological applications. AcceGen's neonatal keratinocytes are cryopreserved at early passage to maintain phenotypic stability and high post-thaw viability. To preserve optimal performance, repeated freeze-thaw cycles should be avoided. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Neonatal rat epidermal keratinocytes are widely used in skin biology, toxicology, and dermatology research. They provide a robust platform for investigating epidermal development, barrier formation, and keratinocyte differentiation. These cells are also ideal for modeling skin injury, wound healing, and inflammatory conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. Their use extends to high-throughput screening of topical therapeutics, safety evaluation of cosmetic products, and constructing 2D or 3D in vitro skin equivalents. Due to their high responsiveness and physiological relevance, they are well-suited for both basic and applied research.
