Description

Rat Intestinal Mesenteric Vascular Endothelial Cells are primary cells isolated from the endothelial lining of mesenteric blood vessels supplying the rat intestine. These cells exhibit the typical cobblestone morphology of endothelial cells and form tight, contact-inhibited monolayers on collagen- or fibronectin-coated substrates. They strongly adhere to the substrate and demonstrate high proliferative capacity under optimized endothelial growth conditions. Rat mesenteric vascular endothelial cells express classical endothelial markers including CD31 (PECAM-1), VE-cadherin, and von Willebrand Factor (vWF), confirming their microvascular endothelial identity. They maintain functional properties such as barrier integrity, nitric oxide production, and responsiveness to inflammatory cytokines. Cells are cryopreserved at early passage with high post-thaw viability. To maintain optimal function and phenotype, repeated freeze-thaw cycles should be avoided. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Rat Intestinal Mesenteric Vascular Endothelial Cells are widely used to study intestinal microvascular biology, including endothelial barrier function, angiogenesis, leukocyte adhesion, and inflammation. They provide a physiologically relevant model to investigate endothelial responses to hypoxia, pro-inflammatory stimuli, and pharmacological compounds relevant to gastrointestinal diseases. These cells are also valuable in modeling intestinal ischemia-reperfusion injury and assessing drug delivery across the intestinal vascular endothelium.
