Description

Rat Lung Cells are primary cells isolated from healthy rat lung tissue. Depending on the isolation method, this mixed population may include epithelial cells, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, and other stromal or immune-related components, making them a versatile in vitro model for lung biology studies. The cells display morphology and adherence properties consistent with their respective lineages—epithelial cells form tightly packed cobblestone monolayers, while fibroblasts exhibit elongated, spindle-like shapes. These cells express lineage-specific markers such as cytokeratin-18 (epithelial), vimentin (fibroblastic), and CD31 (endothelial). Rat Lung Cells are cryopreserved at low passage to retain high post-thaw viability, proliferation potential, and cellular functionality. To maintain performance and cellular integrity, repeated freeze-thaw cycles should be avoided. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Rat Lung Cells are widely used in pulmonary research, including respiratory development, pulmonary inflammation, fibrosis, and inhalation toxicology studies. They serve as a versatile in vitro model for understanding intercellular communication in the lung microenvironment, especially under conditions such as asthma, COPD, acute lung injury, and pulmonary fibrosis. Their responsiveness to cytokines, pathogens, and environmental stressors makes them valuable in drug screening, nanoparticle-induced pulmonary toxicity models, and lung tissue engineering.
