Rat Ovarian Epithelial Cells from AcceGen are isolated from tissue of 1-day-old neonatal laboratory Sprague–Dawley Rats.
Rat Ovarian Epithelial Cells (ROECs) are isolated from normal rat ovarian tissue. Morphologically, ROECs are characterized by a polygonal shape, a central nucleus, and scant cytoplasm, often forming a continuous monolayer in vivo. ROECs contribute to ovarian surface repair during ovulation and participate in paracrine signaling with underlying stromal and follicular cells, influencing folliculogenesis and steroidogenesis. ROECs express epithelial markers ZO-1, E-cadherin, and CK18. To ensure the quality of these primary cells, repeated freeze-thaw cycles are not recommended due to the fragile nature of these cells. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Rat Ovarian Epithelial Cells (ROECs) serve as valuable models in reproductive biology and oncological research. Due to their role in ovarian surface repair and hormone-responsive nature, they are widely used to study ovulation mechanisms, follicular dynamics, and steroid hormone interactions. In cancer research, ROECs are employed to investigate the molecular pathogenesis of epithelial ovarian cancer.
