Rat Placental Microvascular Endothelial Cells from AcceGen are isolated from tissue of Sprague-Dawley Rats.
Rat Placental Microvascular Endothelial Cells (RPMECs) are isolated from placental microvascular beds. They exhibit a cobblestone-like morphology, compact polygonal shape and contact-inhibited growth in vitro, typical of endothelial cells. RPMECs regulate nutrient and gas exchange between maternal and fetal circulations, maintain vascular integrity, and participate in immune tolerance during pregnancy. They express the endothelial marker CD31. To ensure the quality of these primary cells, repeated freeze-thaw cycles are not recommended due to the fragile nature of these cells. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Rat Placental Microvascular Endothelial Cells (RPMECs) are widely used in biomedical research to study placental vascular function, angiogenesis, and pregnancy-related disorders. Due to their critical role in maternal-fetal exchange, RPMECs serve as an in vitro model to investigate endothelial barrier integrity, vascular permeability, and the mechanisms of preeclampsia and intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR).
