Rat Skeletal Muscle Cells, adult are isolated from limb skeletal muscle.
Rat Skeletal Muscle Cells, adult are primarily derived from the longissimus dorsi, extensor digitorum longus, or soleus muscles of adult rats. These cells consist predominantly of terminally differentiated, multinucleated myofibers (skeletal muscle fibers) and a small population of satellite cells (muscle stem cells) responsible for regeneration. Mature myofibers exhibit a long, cylindrical shape with striations due to the highly organized arrangement of actin and myosin filaments, while satellite cells are smaller, mononucleated, and spindle-shaped when quiescent. Adult rat skeletal muscle cells enable voluntary movement, maintain posture, and regulate metabolism through glucose uptake and protein turnover. These cells express MyoD, MyoG and Pax7. To ensure the quality of these primary cells, repeated freeze-thaw cycles are not recommended due to the fragile nature of these cells. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Rat Skeletal Muscle Cells, adult are widely used in biomedical research due to their relevance in studying muscle physiology, disease mechanisms, and regenerative therapies. In vitro cultures of differentiated myotubes derived from these cells serve as a model for investigating muscle contraction, metabolism, and responses to exercise or disuse. Satellite cells isolated from adult rat muscle are essential for studying muscle regeneration, stem cell activation, and the effects of growth factors.
