Description

BALB/c Mouse Kidney Fibroblasts are primary fibroblast cells isolated from the interstitial connective tissue of the kidneys of BALB/c mice (Mus musculus). These cells are spindle-shaped and exhibit typical fibroblastic morphology with adherence to culture surfaces and a robust proliferative capacity. They are maintained at early passages to preserve cellular phenotype and functionality. As kidney fibroblasts, they play a central role in extracellular matrix (ECM) production, wound healing, and fibrogenesis in response to injury or inflammation. The cells express fibroblast markers such as vimentin and fibroblast-specific protein 1 (FSP1), while being negative for epithelial (E-cadherin) and endothelial (CD31) markers. Karyotype analysis verifies chromosomal stability. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures and is tested to ensure it is free from contamination by Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • BALB/c Mouse Kidney Fibroblasts are ideal for research on renal fibrosis, extracellular matrix remodeling, and myofibroblast differentiation assays. They are also widely used in chronic kidney disease modeling, studies of stromal-epithelial interactions using co-culture systems with renal epithelial or endothelial cells, and testing anti-fibrotic drugs and renal tissue engineering strategies. These cells provide a relevant and reproducible in vitro platform for investigating kidney fibrosis and interstitial remodeling mechanisms.
